Job Description

Must be willing to work in an environment with extreme fluctuation of temperatures and safe but strong solvent/paint fumes.

The Position:
Light metal slitter operator needed for fast paced metal manufacturing. Qualified candidate must have a minimum of 2 years prior experience in setting up and operating a metal slit line.


Metal Industry Slitter Operator key responsibilities & qualifications:

  • Operate Slitter at maximum rate according to quality & safety standards
  • Weigh and wrap finished products from the Slitter
  • Complete paperwork documentation for Slitter production
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Ability to read a tape measure and micrometers
  • Fork lift experience
  • Willing to work 2nd  shift
  • Operate & monitor equipment
  • Insure accurate setup and loading of equipment
  • Ability to balance safety, quality & efficiency
  • Occasional forklift operation
  • Accurately capture and record necessary operating data
  • Following established methods and procedures to produce material to specification
  • Assisting in regular cleaning and preventative equipment maintenance activities as directed
  • Communicate quality and product process issues between work groups
  • Perform duties with a goal to continuously improve quality and productivity
  • Demonstrate strong Safety, Quality and Customer focus

 Prior manufacturing / machine operation experience & (forklift) lift truck operation required.

  • Requirements
    • Prior Operation on a Slitter preferred
    • Prior Forklift experience and certification required (15k machine preferred)
    • High School degree or equivalent
    • Must be at least 18 years of age
    • Ability to change shifts as business requirements dictate as well as work overtime and weekends as needed
    • Good knowledge of math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, and fractions
    • Proficient computer skills, with ability to handle multi-step transactions in several applications
    • Physically able to lift and move material (75+ lbs)
    • Ability to stand and work on feet for extended periods of time 
    • A team player that demonstrates a positive and supportive approach with others
    • Must be dependable and maintain an exemplary punctuality and attendance rate of 98% or better
    • Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check
